Worthy enough to be reviewed, sometimes simplicity goes a long way. ViewTi G is the upgraded version from ViewTi which features the difference in having the option of seeing the green which is the only difference between two other than price.

In my opinion, it does the job and it does it well. Currently, it is my preferred choice as a virtual Caddy, in comparison to Teeshot, TeeDroid, and GreenFinder,, all which I consider worthy to have with you in your golf outing. Like other golf related apps, most golfers look for similar functionalities, the top two as follows:

* The ability to use the iPhone as a range finder.
* The ability to keep score.

If this is what you are looking for, ViewTi G will do the job. Everything else is “extra,” such as the following:
* The ability to view the green from a birds-eye view perspective.
* The ability to search for golf courses within your area or another area.
* GPS mapped course.
* Specific course scorecard.

Overall, combine with the “extras” it is relatively powerful to get the job done on the course. The range finder is accurate, it shows you the distance to the green, you can’t really say more about it. The overhead green view allows you to see the sandtraps, along with an indicator to determine what direction your are approaching to the green. You even have the capability to place a marker around the green to determine the distance, although it’s relatively limited because you can only use it around the area of the green.

Tracking your score is simple. Using the plus and minus, you input the amount of stroke you take. Last, but not least, the ability to look for golf course within the area using the in-built GPS (3g phone) or searching in another area by entering the city or zip code. Once a list is populated, you can directly dial the course to reserve your tee time or even get directions to the course. Pretty cool right?

Now here is where ViewTi (G) shines, in comparison to the rest of the other iPhone golf range finders, customer support! One of the biggest problems that plagues these applications is the fact that the database for GPS mapped course is usually populate by people like us or the company tries to map it for you by email them or requesting it through their website. The turn around time usually between a week to 3 weeks. So far, the selling point that ViewTi (G) has is the fact that if your course around is not mapped, they can map it for you within hours! Simply amazing!

Take it from me, as I was preparing for a course the next day, I sent a request to two possible courses that I may be playing at, at 11:45pm at night, the next morning, I receive an email at around 7:30am the next day stating that the course is mapped and to have fun! The following day, I proceeded to add 5 more courses and within a few hours, all of them were mapped! So for those of you who are concerned about whether your course is available, very simple, email them and within a few hours, you’ll have it.

For the most part, I did run into a few problems with the application, once again, I fired up my email to inquire about the issue and a few minutes later, I had a response on how to proceed in correcting it.

It doesn’t get any better.

Overall, even my other golf applications can’t compare to this type of support.

Where does it go wrong? Price! The basic ViewTi is $12.99 and if you want the capabilities of seeing the overhead green, expect to drop $39.99! It’s definitely an overwhelming price to pay to have the capability. I know that they have some pretty outstanding plans for the future of ViewTi G and it can only get better from here. Hopefully, making the $39.99 steep price a worthy investment. For now, if it’s important to you, this is it.

Note: I should mention, although the green view is great to have which also allows you to mark how far you are to the hole, the view only allows you to mark it around the green. If you are on the fairway, don’t expect to be able to mark it manually from there. But if wanted to know how far from the fringe to the hole, then you’re set.
