How do we find out which products are worth our hard-earned money? Well, reviews obviously! But we also go to our friends and ask them about their opinions. With the app VoteItNow!, finding the best products based on recommendations has never been this social.
The free app will ask you to login to your Facebook account. This is really the best way for your friends to see what you are looking into and offer you their opinions. The option to ask Twitter followers was also recently added to this app.
In the app, you choose something to vote on in the popular section or by searching the item’s name, International Standard Book Number, or even bar code, and then vote on it with a thumbs up or thumbs down. You also include a short description of your view. You can also see which of your friends have liked it or hated it. If none of your friends have shared their opinion through the app, you can ask them to by Facebook (either all friends or only select friends, or everyone who uses the VoteItNow! app).
Most of the popular items you can vote on are by Apple (or Apple related, like iPhone cases). This is good as many people like Apple products, but there is almost no variation of items in the app.
The app has many duplicate items. It would be nice if there was only one ‘iPhone 4’, rather than ‘Apple Iphone 4g 32gb’, ‘NEW Apple iPhone 4G Factory Unlocked’, and ‘APPLE IPHONE 4G 32GB BLACK’. Consolidating the items thereby creating a more consistent rating system would be great for the app.
Will the app help you get opinions from your friends on popular (usually tech) items? Yes. I only wish the next updates will make the app as easy or as enjoyable as it should be.

Learning Curve:Medium. Some things are not very intuitive, such as the search function being accessed by a ?Like or Hate? bar.

What I Like:The social aspect of getting opinions from personal friends.
What I Don't Like:The app has a lot of room for improvement, namely the organization of items and intuitiveness of the app.
Final Statement:I give the app idea a thumbs up, but the current execution a thumbs down.
