User Rating:Imagine this. Your’e on a road trip with your family. You’re in a strange city with you need to go to the bathroom (or are with someone that has to) and you have no idea where a clean bathroom is. So you take out your iPhone or iPod touch and find one.
Where to Wee opens with a pictorial request of whether the user is looking for a ladies’ or mens’ room. Once the selection is made, after the app requests to use the current location, a map appears to show the user all the location public restrooms available.
It is possible for the user to enter a new bathroom location (I suspect the creators are hoping for heavy user involvement to make the app popular). Using a toolbar at the bottom the user can also categorize a toilet as a baby-changing station as well, a handicapped toilet, a pay toilet, a bidet and an individual room toilet (as opposed to a set of stalls).
When adding a toilet, the user can also upload pictures. I imagine many gross public toilets will now find their way to photo representation on the Internet.
One problem with the app is the limited selection. It’s fine if you want to go at a Dunkin Donuts or a Subway restaurant. There doesn’t seem to be much otherwise. Another is the difficulty in finding the help file to learn the application. To get there, you must be actually adding a new toilet.
In the end, the app relies too much on user input and while the concept is good and the price is right, there are other free mapping applications that locate local restaurants, each of which has a bathroom.
Quick Take
Value:Medium.
Would I Buy Again:Possibly.
Learning Curve:Low to medium.
Who Is It For:Those who need to pee a lot.
What I Like:Good concept. Simple to use.
What I Don't Like:Not a great selection of bathrooms. Difficult to find help menu.
Final Statement:You may want to hold it in until you find another mapping app.
