Let me first start with the "controversy" over this app.
Take a look at the App Store reviews and you will quickly see that this app received an average of just one star. "Ohh," you think to yourself, "that must truly be a crApp App!"
Not so fast.
Read a little further and discover that the one star rating is usually tied to the location feature needing to be on by default. Yup, people don’t like being forced to offer up their location. Personally, it doesn’t both me since it doesn’t actually give MY information but I can see people not wanting to be forced to use it.
All this leads to two clear conclusions-
1. Developers are better served when they give end-users more choice. In this case the option to turn off the location feature would likely have saved them numerous negative ratings.
2. People writing reviews might take a second or two to first better understand the feature that prompts them to rip an app. In this case, while the location feature potentially has a certain degree of sleaze factor behind it, in this case, it does not give personal information is is not really an issue.
As far as the app itself goes… I like the fact that this app integrates a number of features that would otherwise require a number of different apps. With Wide WisE-mail you get an app for sending a friend your location, an app for writing emails in landscape and an app to quickly send yourself emails with a single tap, all in one.
Additional features that stand out include the ability to choose from one of three font sizes, an auto-save feature for times when the phone wrings in the middle of an email, a zooming feature within the map integration and the ability to shake the iPhone to update your location.
A recent update adds-
– improved location accuracy
– fixed selection of email address issue.
In all, while this app is not deserving of five stars and an "oh my gosh, this is the best app EVER!", it is also not a one star app by any stretch of the imagination. Best of all, it is currently FREE.

Would I Buy Again: Perhaps. (I am perfectly happy with Wide Email and don’t need to send my location to others.)

Who Is It For: People who want one app that provides others you location, uses the iPhone in landscape and more

Final Statement: All in all a decent app worth looking at since it is free.
This application will allow you to write messages using a landscape big keyboard then send messages through the mobile mail. You can also set recipient, cc email address and subject to get the simplest way to email yourself with your location info.
You can find your location and attach the location info into the message. If the location is incorrect, it will allow you to tap the pin to adjust the location on the map or just shake your phone to update map.
**PLEASE NOTE**• Accuracy of the location is depending on certain factors, strength of GPS signal, you are inside or outside and you use 3G iPhone or 2G iPhone or iPod Touch. This application’s location service works best on the iPhone 3G, which has a built-in GPS chipset.
• If you are using 3G iPhone outside and you will get the best accuracy in about 5-10 seconds. However if you think, your location is incorrect, you can move the pin to adjust the location or shake your phone then the map will be updated.
