User Rating:Word Burst is an interesting combination of Scrabble, Tetris and Boggle. The idea is to find words within a collection of "letter balloons". Once you tap the individual letters, the collected word appears at the bottom of the screen. You hit the word "burst" and that destroys the letter balloons you created the word from, moving the letters around to fill the spaces. You then repeat the process until the time limit is completed. This is like Scrabble because each letter is worth a certain number of points. The objective is to get the highest score in the time limit.
The game is cute and get be addictive. Is it worth $2.99? Perhaps to those looking for a lower-cost alternative to the $4.99 Scrabble iPhone app. I got it on a day when it was being offered for free.
One aspect of the game that I find annoying is that it requires one to input their name and put it on the high scores listing. Granted, you can put a fake name but the creators would do better to allow for a "cancel" button so one could skip the step and continue play.
Besides that, the game is colorful, simplistic and fun. The graphics are okay but could be better (see Scrabble, which took a relatively simplistic game and made it a feast for the eyes). While I think this is a cute game to own, I’d wait until the cost was lowered to the $.99 point before I’d consider purchase.
