Want to know what I absolutely love? I absolutely love when an app does exactly what it says it does, and does it well. I think it’s great when I download an app and it actually lives up to it’s expectations. WordSeach Puzzle does this, and of course it helps a bit that I like Word Searches. So, if you don’t like Word Search puzzles, you may as well stop reading now.
WordSearch Puzzle is surprisingly appealing visually. On the menu it gives the option to choose puzzle size between 1 & 3, I found that 1 was too small and 3 was so big I had a hard time reading the small letters. Also you have the option to choose difficulty between 1 & 3. The only thing I noticed the difficulty changed was on level 1 words only go straight across or down, level 3 is more like normal searches where the words can go backwards, or diagonally, etc. After selecting a difficulty and puzzle size you have the option to choose from a LOT of categories for word lists. There are things like Random, Movies, Computer Games, Cookies, Cars, and a whole lot more. There is even a Dinosaur list which makes it a lot easier when all you really have to do is look for ‘saurus’ for most of them. Once you have selected your difficulty, puzzle size, and word list you will open up the game in which the list of words is located at the top, and the puzzle below.
Gameplay itself couldn’t be any simpler. When you find a word in the list you simple set your finger down on the first letter, and drag across until you have completed the word. The game will automatically circle it once you have reached the last letter and you can simply release. The best part about all of it is the fact that I was worried about covering up the letters while I was highlighting a word, thus I wouldn’t be able to see where I was on the puzzle or when the word ended. Well, the developer saw this issue and corrected it before I even got my hands on it. When you select a letter and begin to drag it pops up a highlighted image if what you have selected either below, beside, or above where your thumb is so you can see what you are highlighting. Makes it extremely simple. Once you finish the puzzle it announces it at the top of the screen that you are done and how long it took you. Also, WordSeach Puzzle is one of the first games I have found, that doesn’t have extremely annoying background music. It doesn’t have any in fact. Just a small sound when you complete a word and complete a puzzle. I’m not a big fan of background music at all, no matter what the game is, but to each their own I suppose.
On a more personal note, I let my girlfriend play around with the game last night, just to get her thoughts on it. She admitted it is just like a wordsearch, but was disappointed that it didn’t have anything special. She told me that she would still prefer the old-fashioned highlighter and paper puzzle to the iPhone version of this one. Hopefully the developer will implement an update to address the issue of having nothing ‘uniquely appealing’ over the paper version.

Final Statement: WordSearch Puzzle is a great game for anyone who likes wordsearch puzzles. Obviously. It’s not the old-fashioned highlighter and paper version, but it does a great job of offering everyone a ‘one-time-buy’ for almost an unlimited amount of puzzles to enjoy.
