User Rating:I’ve always been a fan of wordsearch puzzles since I was a kid. With apps like WordSearch Unlimited, it’s even easier to do as you don’t have to go scrambling around to find a pencil. You only have to slide your finger across the screen.
This review is of the free version of the app. The paid version has more levels, a larger word selection and no ads.
There are actually two ways one can select a word while searching the letter grid. Either slide your finger across the word or tap the first and last letters of the word. It’s nice to have variety.
You can choose various styles in which the wordsearch can appear including Pencil on Paper, Chalk on Chalkboard and various others. Even the categories of words can be selected for things such as boy’s names, girl’s names, body parts, clothes or just the English language in general (other languages come with the paid version).
Despite its cost, the program seems to be buggy. It crashed on a few occasions in the beginning while I was trying to run it. Perhaps it’s because I was using a first generation iPod Touch. The ads are a bit annoying as well since they change during the game. That alone might be worth the full version purchase.
As with a non-digital wordsearch, words can appear horizontally, vertically or diagonally and can run backwards sometimes. Each game is timed so the trick is to find all the words as quickly as possible.
Overall, the game is fun and certainly worth the download at this price. I’ll leave it to the individual user whether they wish to pay for the full version.
