Yumm has grown to become a bit of a familiar face among Android users. The cute razor-toothed creature has already featured in one mobile game, and Yumm Halloween is very much more of the same, with a slightly altered look.

Fans of the original Yumm will notice that this Yumm is considerably hairier than his older sibling, resembling something between a Critters critter and a furbie. The aim of the game is simple. When Yumm opens his mouth, you place your finger on (or in) it. The objective is to pull your finger out before Yumm slams his savage gnashers down on it.

That’s all there is to it really. The game has a charming visual style, with the unique facet that Yumm is effectively a video rendering, making him look uncannily realistic, if a bit video-grainy.

You can share your in-game scores with your friends, and switch the difficulty setting between Easy and Hard. Oh, and there is the option to turn blood off when you get bitten, but why the hell would you want to do that? Sometimes I keep my finger in there just to see the blood splatter on the screen, but then I am a fearless nutter like that.

Yumm Halloween is an enjoyable time-killer game, but a lack of progression and variety mean that it wears thin too quickly. It would’ve been good to see different Yumms of varying looks and difficulty, or a least a changing background. Realistically, how much time do you really want to spend playing a digital game of chicken with the same creature over and over again? Not too much…
