The newphotography iPhone App Viewmatic, by Bright Mango, brings a retro film-camera twist to modern iPhoneography. The app features several twin-lens reflex and mirror reflex cameras, with viewfinder filters that are rather “vintage” so that iPhoneographers can be able to overlay onto any image existing in their camera roll.

Viewmatic users have a selection of 20 different lens options to choose from when they want to apply a unique preset to the image so as to achieve a more ingenious, custom look. You can tune each lens for strength, and there is contrast, brightness, saturation, and sharpness adjustment. This means you can create up to 400 viewfinder and lens combinations and the customization possibilities are virtually infinite. You save the images instantly in the camera roll for sharing on Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Twitter, and third-party apps like Dropbox.

Bright Mango’s Zach Garrett said, “Through-the-Viewfinder, or TTV, photography is a growing hobby among vintage camera aficionados who shoot images with their iPhone through the viewfinder of a classic or vintage film camera to capture this retro look–complete with the scratches, dust and other wear signs that give vintage photos such character.”
