User Rating:Earthworm Jim is an old, cartoony video game favorite and his iPhone / iPod touch game has just been discounted to $.99.
For those unaware, Jim is an ordinarily earthworm that found an alien battle suit which turned him into a superhero. Now, he fights all kinds of baddies with his suit and ray gun.
The best aspect of Earthworm Jim is the thought put into the background and characters. His movement is not just one dimensional (right or left). He also climbs and jumps on tires, and can shoot things like crows. . The characters all move well but have a cartoony, otherworldly feel that makes you want to continue the game simply to see what happens next. The game itself is similar to other games in this genre.
Settings allow you to change the touch controls that appear on screen to move Jim in different directions. In the same Settings, you can modify Sound and Language. The best part is that there is a control that accesses your iPod playlist. You can listen to music while playing the game. I only wish the feature extended to audio books (yes, I’m odd that way).
In the end, Earthworm Jim is a pretty standard adventure game (think Super Mario or any of those other "man on a mission" games) but with better graphics and better game play.
Quick Take
