I was never a fan of tower defense games until I played TapDefense. I saw StickWars climbing on the top 25 list and thought it looked interesting.

Graphics
The graphics are attractive, yet very simple. The screen really never changes. There is your wall you are defending and the country side. The enemies are simple stick figures with round white heads. Even though the graphics are simle, they work well with the gameplay and are nicely rendered.

Strategy/Gameplay
The game has a simple goal. Protect your wall from the stick figures who keep coming. You have a power bar that represents the strength of your wall. If your enemy reaches your wall, they begin banging on it which takes power away. To protect your wall you must stop the stick figure asault. To do this you flick the stickmen into the air and watch them splat on the ground. If you do not flick them high enough they simply fall down and get back up to attack again. In the later levels. The enemies roll out battering rams which take your wall power much quicker if you allow them to reach.

As the Game progresses you are able to buy add ons and power ups. The first add on you buy is a prison. You drop enemies into the jail one at a time and use them later to work for you. You are also able to fortify your wall or add power back. Other add ons include: Bomb Factory- allows you to use prisoners to walk out to the enemies carrying a bomb. Essentially a suicide bomber. Archery Pit- allows the use of prisoners to shoot arrows at the enemy. The more archers you create the faster they shoot. Archers do cost money to maintaineach round. Repair Shop: uses prisoners to work on maintaining wall power during gameplay. The more repairmen the faster they work. Wizard School: this is the most expensive add on. When your wizard power is full you use a two finger tap to release a meteor. Very usefull in later rounds. The more wizards you create, the faster the meter replinishes.

Conclusion
The game play is super simple yet fast. Despite the simplicity, StickWars provides mindless, entertaining gameplay. My only problem was several crashes in later rounds after droping a meteor. I did read that a planned update will fix this issue. Other updates look to make the game even better. There are many additions to re graphics such as weather changes and visual damage of your wall. There will also be new enemies requiring new strategies as well as the ability to listen to iPod music during gameplay. This is a great $.99 game!

Quick Take:

Value:  High

Would I Buy Again?  Yes.  Especially at $.99.

Learning Curve:  Very low.

Who is it for:  Fans of tower defense games and anyone looking for simple entertaing gameplay.

What I like:  Simple, addicting gameplay.

What I don’t:  Crashes in later levels and new enemies needed.  (both of these are slated to be addressed in the update)
