User Rating:I have always been a sucker for any racing game. When I saw Stunt Car Racing in the top of the free app section I was very interested. At first look, this app looks pretty good. The graphics are decent and it has a Super NES feel to it. The graphics and music reminded me of the golden days of gaming. The music and graphics are good and all I need is an A and B button to really enjoy the game.
The free version includes 6 tracks. The paid version include the rest of the 99 tracks. The tracks are a series of jumps and other obstacles. Each of the tracks look different and have different sets of jumps but the gameplay does not change much from track to track. Your truck automatically accelerates. The controls include a break, a button to shift the front of the truck both up and down and a button for nitro boost. The controls are placed in easy to use spots and do not impede gameplay or view of the tracks. When your truck hits a jump you need to adjust the angle it lands which places all four wheels on the ground. Bonus points are rewarded for a perfect landing. On a big jump you are able to perform stunts for big point totals and to earn nitro boosts. The tracks are all side scrolling and the goal is to reach the finish line without crashing.
This version seems to be a pretty stripped down version of the paid app. Basic gameplay, sounds, and graphics are represented well with many extra items included in the full version. This game is somewhat entertaining and has good graphics and sound. My concern is that I might play the game for a short period of time but would not replay it.
Quick Take:
Value: Medium
Would I buy it again? I probably would not.
Learning Curve: There is a small learning curve while you learn the controls.
Who is it for? Fans of old school console games.
What I like: Graphics and music brings me back to a great time.
What I don’t: No reason to replay the game.
