The latest craze to hit the app scene, 4 Pics 1 Word has definitely gotten me smitten with it’s mind boggling gameplay.

To start off, 4 Pics 1 Word is a no-nonsense and no frills type of application where no fanciful tutorials are available to spoon-feed users into understanding how the game works. Not that one is needed anyway, given the simplicity of the game. Users simply guess the word the app has dished out based on 4 dealt images that are uncannily related in a way. Don’t be fooled by how easy it seems though, because it most definitely is not.

The difficulty of the game is what makes the game most interesting. For example, users can get seemingly random images that don’t appear to have any form of relation at all, for example a student with an A+ on her report card and a judicial table but yet the link between these images form the missing word the player has to solve.

Of course, hints can be given but they come at a cost. Every successful level nets the player a some spare change. To unveil a missing letter, players can pay 60 coins or 90 coins to reveal the entire word. As expected of a free app, additional coins can be purchased via in-app purchases.

Now what irritated me a little and marred my gaming experience would be the little bomb icon located to the right of the screen amongst the scrambled letters. As players take an increasing amount of time to solve their puzzles, the icon vibrates violently urging users to spend some coins. This can get very annoying as tension builds up.
That aside, I strongly recommend everyone from all walks of life to give this game a shot. It’s not as easy as it seems.
