App Store Drama – Part 2 App-Custody Battle

Yesterday we noted the on-going drama of Beer-gate as the developer of iBeer sues Coors for ripping off their idea and giving away the free iPint (at least until Apple pulled the latter.)

THAT, however, is not the only drama unfolding these days in the world of iPhone apps.

Apparently the creators of the gps app Where To are divorcing and custody of their apps is more than a bit of an issue. (Where To has grossed about $200,000 since its release so there really is something to fight over.) The split and the drama surrounding it was revealed in a recent blog post.

Apparently the two company principals have been…

“having some severe arguments over the direction of the company.”

The areas of contention included arguments over the approach to advertising and marketing and the design of the apps themselves. (And perhaps issues surrounding how to punish apps when they are unruley.)

As is so often the case, though, the actual division of property took some time. Ultimately, one
“will get Tipulator and the in-progress I’m Here and Groceries.” while the other will “retain the tap tap tap brand and a bunch of apps that we had in early development but we hadn’t announced as of yet.”

What I want to know is… who gets custody of the dog??
