New In The App Store – OrbLive

Back in my Windows days I was a huge fan of Orb, an Internet service that allows you to access digital media on your Windows PC from any Net-connected device. I found it to be a great (albeit sometimes buggy) way to watch shows recorded on my Media Center PC when I was not at home.

Well, Orb just came to the iPhone in the form of a $9.99 app and it looks great. OrbLive…

turns your iPhone or iPod touch into a multimedia receiver. Want to watch live TV? Just a click away. Want to listen to music while you are on the go? Rock on! Watch downloaded videos at the coffee-house? Pull up a comfy chair. OrbLive is a screamer over Wifi, but it even works over 3G or Edge (only for Music and Photos for now). Select your media, and push play. No need to synch or upload to a website ahead of time. OrbLive plays any media, in virtually any format.

Sounds almost too good to be true and… if you use Mac or Linux, it is. While an Orb client is said to be coming to my platform of choice, it is currently nowhere to be seen.

You can get Orb HERE in the App Store for $9.99.
