User Rating:Granted, What’s On iPhone has already reviewed the free version of this game. However, once the price of the paid version dropped to a staggeringly low $.99 (down from $4.99 to $2.99 to $1.99), we figured "what the Hell" and double-dipped the review.
The first thing I noticed about the full version of this game is that there wasn’t the cute intro with Brian and Stewie noting that the people downloading the free version were cheap-o’s. What a shame. Fortunately, there are other segments throughout the game to take its place.
This game is far more involved than its free counterpart. There is actually a central storyline (a power outage in the neighborhood) and several "mini-games" that allow the plot to move forward. The first mini-game involves Brian running away from Stewie (whom he owes money) and the second involves a dream sequence from Quagmire that has a lot of scantily-clad women. Future levels unlock other games as you progress, such as a battle between Peter and the Giant Chicken.
One of the most interesting aspects of the game (other than the storyline itself) is that each mini-game has its own set of rules, so you have read carefully and pay attention. Naturally, this game is a must-have for ‘Family Guy’ fans, but they probably bought it when it was $4.99.
And yes, the game does have my favorite feature in which you can play your audio library in the background. The first question the game asks is if you want to use the game sounds. Just click "no".
Is it worth $5? Not to me. But it’s definitely worth $.99. It’s Giggity-giggity-great!
Quick Take
Value:High.
Would I Buy Again:For $.99, definitely.
Learning Curve:Medium. It's a different learning curve for each game.
Who Is It For:Family Guy enthusiasts and those who get bored easily.
What I Like:Good concept and storyline.
What I Don't Like:Graphics are a little rough. 'The Simpsons' did that aspect better.
Final Statement:It has a giant chicken. What's not to love?
