You wake up, your clothes are drenched, and the thunder rings loudly in your ears. You fumble around in the dank alleyway until you find your flashlight and, by fortune, a handgun. The moaning and shuffling can be clearly heard now. You take one look around before moving headlong into the void that has become infested with the undead.

These scenarios always send shivers up my spine. Twoheads Games has really done an amazing job with the atmosphere with their zombie survival shooter, Aftermath. This dual-stick shooter sets itself apart from the hoards of similar games by utilizing waypoints that the player must follow. Instead of simply finding the fastest way to the end, the player must reach each waypoint, some of which will force the player to double back. The shadows and the lighting effects are top notch, add to this a collection of eight large urban maps and this game offers quite a bit in the way of fun and fright. Besides the standard shambling zombies, there are spitting zombies as well as the modern "running  zombies." There are a variety of weapons to find and assist you in dispatching your foes. You can even find some high explosives if you are willing to deviate from the path. The question is will that grenade be worth it when you are overrun with undead and backed into a corner?

Aftermath offers a single player campaign with online scoring via Open Feint, as well as a survival mode you keep you busy once you have polished off the campaign. The game can be short if you are an avid dual stick shooter, but the execution and style of this game far out weighs the amount of content and is well worth the $1.99. I wont even say, "If you like zombies…," because really, everyone loves a good zombie game. Do yourself a favor and grab this one now.
