We’ve all heard about Godzilla and King Kong, but what about a giant and angry bear? Angry Bear is based around this exact character: he must destroy every enemy in sight before they destroy the Earth. You are the Earth’s only hope. This sideways scroller is simple to learn and quite challenging: read on!

Although the game is a side scroller, the 3D graphics make this game more visually appealing. Angry Bear provides gamers with an easy to learn atmosphere. The player just has to tap the screen at the desired location, and a red bullet is fired. Currently there is no way to auto-fire however, which can make playing this game a more challenging.

In each level, you must fend off several enemies before losing your three lives. We’ve missed an indicator at the bottom showing how long the current level was, since this sideways scroller does not tell users how much further they must go to complete the level.

The leveling up is pretty linear, with enemies changing every 4 levels. The challenging part came with the boss battles. These battles were pretty challenging and sometimes took more than one try to complete. Unlike many other games, Angry Bear does not keep score. I found this annoying, since I always love to replay levels to try and beat my previous score, but I guess this is OK for some. Overall, Angry Bear can be fun for those idle moments waiting in queues, bus stops and similar places. It only has a few levels, but the boss levels do get increasingly harder. Check out Angry Bear if you are a casual gamer looking for a quick pick sideways scroller.

Editor note: Secret contacts with the developers show that the small drawbacks in the review will be gone soon, making the game more awesome.

Quick Take

Value:Medium

Would I Buy Again:Likely

Learning Curve:Very small, if any, the user just has to tap screen

Who Is It For:Casual gamers

What I Like:Different levels with different themes

What I Don't Like:No score feature, can get repetitive

Final Statement:Angry Bear is a fun game for those who are not into the complex shooters, but can become repetitive and would benefit from variety.
