Berokyo is an organizer and quick launcher for your ipad, iphone or ipod touch. It puts all the mobile stuff you want at your finger tips, such as contacts, pictures and documents, into bookshelves you can easily browse through.

Having trouble finding the stuff you want on your ipad or iphone? Want to access your favorite documents, media or contacts asap? Berokyo might be the app for you! This app promises to organize your iPad or iPhone by letting you put up bookshelves with your music, documents, contacts or pictures, saving you a lot of time. Once you get it set up, that is, because when you open this app you get thrown in at the deep end: no explanations, no how to, just “You don’t have any bookshelves”. Now, obviously you’ve bought this organizing tool because you wanted to organise your iPad or iPhone. Still, I’d have liked a short intro of some sort.

Berokyo is completely synched with Dropbox, which is good. Getting a list of your favorite contacts is also very useful and once you’ve figured them out, the controls are easy to use and you can slide from shelf to shelf. However, what I would like to use this app for, and what I got from their website, is that it would make it oh, so easy to get my pictures from Iphoto and organize them. I had a happy image in my mind of standing in a bar, with everybody else clicking through their phone to show their new car/house/baby and there I’d be, sliding through endless pics of my dogs on my iPad. But it doesn’t work like that. For some inconceivable reason, you cannot slide through your pics. You have to open it, then close it again and click on the next one. How lame is that?!

Berokyo looks good, and once you figure out how to use it, it does help you find stuff on your device. I liked the personalization options, you can pick from several colors and types of wood for your bookshelves and pick a background image, which is a bit frivolous for an organizing app, but kinda fun. I like the way you can slide through the different bookshelves. However, they should have put a short manual on it. Yes, most of it’s intuitive, but still. If you start out wrong, you can get stuck. The picture feature could be a lot better; hope they improve that for the follow up version, that’ll get a higher rating from me for sure!

We rate this app 3.5 out of 5 stars.
