App Update – Wide Email Adds Text Shortcuts

One of the must have pieces of software for any Mac user is a little application called TextExpander. Text Expander has a huge range of uses but the most important one, at least for me, is ability to create short text micro. For instance, if I type the word AADRESS with two "aa"s at begining, the program automatically input my home address completely. Similarly, If I type the word WWORK it puts in my work place address immediately. It’s incredibly useful piece of software and the more of these shortcuts you create and use, the more useful the application becomes. Very often in any given document or email, I find myself using it at least five or six times at a minimum. It’s one of those applications that, having now used it for a while, I’m not sure I could live without.

There been a few applications for the iPhone that have the potential to do something  similar but I have not found them to be very useful. The recent update to Wide Email, however, brings this function in a simple but fantastic way. You can now create an unlimited number of the short snippets and link each to a longer string. Afer that, whenever you type the snippet, it automatically replaces it with the longer text you programmed in.

After updating the app yesterday I created just a few of the most common ones that I use with Text Expander. I then went to type an email and found that it not only works well but that it works VERY well. There is no lag time and the potential is limitless. I am already finding it quite useful and I can only imagine that as time goes on, and I create more of them, it will become increasingly useful.

You can get more information HERE and find it HERE in the App Store.
