iOS WordPress client Poster acquired and shut down by… WordPress creator Automattic

Poster, the WordPress client for iOS previously available on the App Store, has become the newest acquisition of WordPress creator Automattic. The app has been pulled off the shelves and will no longer available on the App Store in its current form.

Poster developer Tom Witkin wrote on his blog on Monday that he, along with Poster, will now be part of the Automattic team. He will work with the mobile team and his role at Automattic will be “designing and coding”.

Poster is set to continue with its normal functions for the time being. Witkin has assured its current users of continued support. Existing Poster users will be able to re-download it from the App Store while those who don’t already have it will no longer be able to purchase it.
