While some people had claimed that the iPhone 5 might not be as successful as its predecessors, the same cannot be said about the figure that Verizon had published. The company had managed to sell more than 650,000 iPhone 5 during the first nine days that the device was made available for sale. This figure was released in the earnings call Thursday morning while they were talking about the third-quarter results of the company.

As far as the whole iPhone scene is concerned, Verizon managed to activate more than 3.1 million iPhones during the third quarter. Out of 3.1 million, 21% of them were of the latest model. These devices currently run under the company’s LTE network. As compared with the previous quarter, the company had activated more than 2.7 million iPhone as well. These are astounding figures that show the profitability of the iPhone.

This figure is still small as compared with the reported sales of the iPhone. The first weekend alone, Apple managed to sell more than 5 million iPhone 5. While this figure may be great, it is still a disappointment to many investors considering that they had expected a figure close to 8 million instead. However, with supply constraints, it is a problem that is unable to be fixed.
