Your iPhone and Facebook are two of your most prized possessions, but even though you can get the latter within the former in the form of an app, they still aren’t exactly ‘integrated.’ ContactsXL 3 overcomes this fundamental flaw, as you can integrate the feature-thin ‘Contacts’ book on your iPhone with your Facebook contacts.

The whole app has a user-friendly grid interface that’s suspiciously similar to that of Facebook. It is highly customizable, allowing you to change everything from the font size, to the background color, to what you want displayed on your home-screen.

A major feature in ContactsXL 3 is its focus on organizing your contacts into groups. I’ve never been one to separate my ‘Best Friends’ from ‘People I Don’t Actually Like’ within my contacts list. However, the Smart Groups function – which lets you define rules for a group that then updates automatically – is very useful for those who enjoy categorizing their friends.

On top of all these fancy features, ContactsXL 3 also features the expected functions such as a T9 Dialer keypad for easy phone-call-making, and a Birthday Reminder function because, let’s face it, no one remembers birthdays without the help of technology any more. There is an almost unnecessary, but not unwelcome, abundance of ways to search through your contacts, so if for some reason you want to browse through them by ‘City’ or ‘Middle Name’, you’re welcome to do so.

ContactsXL 3 is a great app that fuses Facebook with the boring default ‘Contacts’ list on your iPhone. Its ease of use and malleability mean that you’ll soon be turning to this as your main method of grouping, segregating and, of course, contacting your contacts.

Quick Take

Value:Hi.

Would I Buy Again:Yes.

Learning Curve:Low.

Who Is It For:People who find the iPhone's default 'Contacts' list a bit boring.

What I Like:Easy-to-use and customisable interface.

What I Don't Like:I now create Contact groups when I really don't have to.

Final Statement:An accessible contacts organiser that should streamline your social (network) life.

Read the Developer's Notes:
With ContactsXL you can manage your contacts & favorites, create & organize groups, send SMS Text messages & Emails to groups very quickly, receive birthday reminders, use a T9 dialer to make phone calls, visualize the photos of your contacts in the contact lists, and even more!

If you have a Facebook account, you will be able to retrieve the profile pictures, birthdays, companies, job titles and adresses from your Facebook friends. If they do not belong to your address book, the app will allow you to add them to it.

Users said on the AppStore:

"I love this app", "This app is excellent", "One of the best apps and a must have", "Must have for anyone who uses their phone for business", "The groups feature (creating, maintening, texting) is irreplaceable", "Facebook sync is excellent", "One of the best apps I've purchased"

Key Features:

-CONTACTS, GROUPS AND FAVORITES MANAGEMENT-

You can manage and organize your contacts, groups and favorites.

-PHOTOS OF THE CONTACTS IN THE LISTS-

You can view the list of your contacts with their photo in front of their name.

-SYNCING WITH FACEBOOK-

You can synchronize the contacts in your address book with your Facebook friends, retrieving their photo, company, job title, date of birth and address.

With smart groups, simply define your rules and they will update automatically.

-GROUP TEXT/SMS AND EMAILS-

You can send Text/SMS Messages and Emails very quickly, unlike with native applications that require you to add contacts one by one.

-INTEGRATION OF FACEBOOK-

You can view the list of your Facebook friends, access their information, see all your friends' statuses gathered into a single list. You can check their birthdays, sorted in chronological order, and know which friends are online. And most importantly, you can switch from the card of a contact to his Facebook profile and vice versa, very simply and quickly.

-FULL SEARCH AND SORTING CONTACTS-

You can find a contact by searching for any information in its card. And you can sort your contacts by any field of your choice.

-IMPORTING FACEBOOK FRIENDS-

You can add Facebook friends to your address book.

-COVERFLOW-

An always amazing feature to see and to show your friends: Coverflow allows to browse your contacts by scrolling through their photos.

-A SMART T9 DIALER-

You will be able to initiate calls faster thanks to the built-in T9 keypad that will suggest contact numbers progressively as you dial.
