Doodle Jump is a fun light hearted game—no beads of sweat will form on your forehead with this game. But you may let out a few expletives as well as a smile or 2.
In Doodle Jump, your character is some sort of alien that jumps around. You need to move him from platform to platform and climb higher and higher up the screen. To do this, you tilt your screen side to side. As you tilt it, your character moves.
As you climb higher, you’ll encounter all sorts of “good” things—such as springs, jet packs, and “moving” platforms; You’ll also encounter “bad” things such as broken platforms, holes in the paper, and “bad guys”. If your character falls off a platform or hits a ‘bad guy’, your game is over.
Can a game get any simpler? Well, I guess it could; but that’s not really the point here. Although Doodle Jump is very simple; the “cute” factor, the fun game play, and high replay value makes this game a thumbs up.
On a side note, one of the ‘niceities’ of the game is that along the right side you can see you’ll see lines (and names) of where other people’s game ended. It’s a nice way to see your “position” in the game without having to compare just your score.
Would I Buy Again: Sure–it’s a good game while waiting in line
Learning Curve: Learning curve? This game doesn’t have one.
Who Is It For: Casual gamers, fans of non violent games
What I Like: I like the graphics–that’s definately part of the appeal. The well pacing and good control also help too 🙂
What I Don’t: It can get kind of tricky–which does get frustrating.
Final Statement: Doodle Jump is a lot of fun, for not much money! It’s a definate keeper, especially if you just want a fun game to pass some time
As you keep jumping higher and higher, the platforms start moving, the monsters, UFOs, black holes and other obstacles start appearing and the game gets progressively more challenging.
Along your way up, you will see markers on the side of the screen indicating how high other players of Doodle Jump around the world have managed to get to. This in-game high-score markers feature is a first among the iPhone games and is beloved by both the players and reviewers.
