There are more than seven thousand possible chords on the guitar, and those who download the Chordmaster app to their mobile device will be able to get accurate fingering charts and even sound recordings of them all. This app contains a library of 7,800 guitar chords which indicate the fingering and note in which the chords each play.

The app displays the actual positioning on the fretboard for right or left handed players. If the player wants to hear what a particular chord will sound like they can use the touch screen feature to “strum” the strings and hear it in perfect clarity. The Chordmaster app separates all of the chords into variants, type, or root designation in order to make browsing and searching easier and faster.

The display on the interface can be for single or multiple fretboard positions and the numeric indicators will remain solid or show the slide to a new position. There are also helpful hints available, and the user can turn this feature on or off at their discretion. String labels can be kept visible or removed as well.

There are other guitar playing apps, such as the Guitar Toolkit and 7 Chords, but this is one with a remarkably thorough library of chords and charts, as well as an audio component and left hand instructions too. It is compatible only with iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

The cost for the Chordmaster app is $1.99, and there is also a less detailed “lite” version available for free.

If you want to learn to play the guitar, or simply perfect the skills you already have, then this app is a good choice for you to download.
