Being both a Batman and LEGO fan, I admit I was a little late in reviewing this particular game, particularly in light of the fact that this game already exists for most major gaming console and other operating systems. The game itself plays like the comic book on which its based.
Unlike other versions of Lego Batman, there is no animation for the character or even spoken voices. There are only pages which have the characters talking in word balloons and the Batman theme from the 90’s playing in the background. Those who have played other versions might find this one inferior as a result.
The game play itself is pretty simple. Batman and his enemies are presented with a series of challenges which they must overcome to progress. If you fail at the challenge, you must restart it. It’s definitely a game geared towards the pre-teen male audience.
The games themselves are fairly simple and somewhat uninteresting. Also, the instructions for each play are sometimes not clear. If not for the Batman and Lego names attached to this game, it would likely sell less as it would be easy to find the same types of games elsewhere.
The interesting parts of the app are the comic books in-between each game. They’re cute and simplistic and might even encourage the kids to pick up a couple of comic books.
Despite the low price, I wouldn’t recommend this game to anybody that isn’t already a Batman fan or potentially has a kid that would be one. For really good game play, get the same game for one of the big systems like the PS3 or XBox (or even the Mac computer).
Would I Buy Again:Yes, but I like both Batman and LEGOs.
Who Is It For:Batman fans and kids who would be Batman fans.
What I Like:The comic books between the games.
What I Don't Like:The games themselves are simplistic and instructions aren't clear.
Final Statement:Unless your'e a Bat-fan, you can leave this one in the Batcave.
