User Rating:Maybe it is my background in archaelogy, but something about this series and this app caught my eye. You see, I have long been fascinated by how little of our material culture survives after a relatively (in terms of the earth’s history) brief period of time. I spent a number of summers digging in the ruins of cities destroyed almost 2000 years ago and while we found walls and pottery in abundance, it was relatively little compared to what actually existed at the time. The rest either decayed or was carried off. And THAT was in a culture whose "stuff" actually COULD withstand the test of time.
So the idea of seeing what WE might leave behind was more than a bit interesting to me. Because of that this app could have been quite interesting. Could have been… but is not.
This app does two things… and neither of them very well.
The first is a slide show of major landmarks now and how they might looks in the future. It also tells you WHY it will look that way. It is the kind of thing where you look at the slides onces, think "Oh, interesting" and then never again. Not the sign of a good app!
The second is to give you ability to take an image and add decay. It is the same idea as apps like Cartoonizeme but here you add grass, decay and animals. It isn’t very effective and it doesn’t give you a good end result.
Finally, the app tells you when the show is on. This is, after all, the reason this hastly released app was created in the first place.
Quick Take
Value: Low. Free but low
Would I Buy Again: No
Learning Curve: Zero… but "Interest curve" zero, as well
Who Is It For: Suckers like me who take the time to download it
What I Like: Cool concept for a show
What I Don’t: Everything else
Final Statement: Watch the show… don’t waste your time on the app
