Keeping a journal can be a rewarding. It allows you to look back on the past and see what your mindset and thoughts were in a moment of time. It imparts a slice of you that even the best photo cannot begin to uncover. It also assists you with organizing your thoughts and can lead to a better understanding of what and why your believe. There are many benefits, but there are also many difficulties. Finding time, and being able to push past the blank page are specters that plaque all types of writers.

Roller Journal is a hype young punk that challenges that status quo. Here is a writing app that understands your weaknesses and wants to help you move past them. Can’t remember to write? Roller Journal will give you a push notification at the time it notices you tend to write. Don’t know what to write about today? Roller Journal has you covered with a nice collection of open ended questions to set that spark to tender. There are even milestones, realistically we can call them achievements, that will tickle your reward behavior instinct.

Roller Journal comes packages in a nice muted color design that is reminiscent of MoleSkin notepads that al the hip kids love. Tap on the main screen bring you right to your writing environment. At the top is your question for the day. It might ask you about events that happened, or aspirations. Roller Journal also lets you see how your answers change over time to the same questions. If you don’t like a question, or perhaps you don’t feel like you need one, there is a tool bar with buttons to change or remove the question. You can also send out a journal post via all the usual suspects (email, Twitter, Facebook, etc).

There are currently twenty questions to start off with, and you can add your own questions right from the app. If you prefer to let others choose your subjects, there are question packs that can be purchased as IAP. While some people find journalling a natural part of their day, others find it to be a chore. If you want to try your hand at keeping a journal, Roller Journal does offer a good way to motivate yourself and stimulate the creative juices in your head. Roller Journal does have a DropBox backup feature, and the backup is in an open plist format, but otherwise your can expect Roller Journal to stay on your iOS device. Grab Roller Journal on the app store for $1.99 and get starting chronicling your life.

We rate this app 4 out of 5 stars.
