A few weeks ago my father-in-law asked me to do a bit of research for him. He and my mother-in-law were getting ready for a trip to the Galapagos Islands and he needed a new camera. His requirements- small, easy to use, a big LCD screen (he is turning 60 this year).

My requirements for him were a little different. I wanted- small, super easy to use and inexpensive enough that if when the camera falls into Galapagos lizard dung it won’t be a big deal to buy another one.

After a good deal of research I ended up looking for the updated version on the Casio digital camera that has served me so well for the last few years. I did a series of web searches and eventually found it at a good price on a Casio Exilim EX-Z80.

Man do I wish I had known about Save Benjis at the time. It would gave made my search even faster.

Save Benjis is a powerful little comparison shopping app and a whole lot more.
You can type in as general or specific a term as you want and the app returns a complete list of currently available items.

Tap the item you want and the app shows you where it is available and how much it costs.

From there the app will take you to the site for ordering or it will email you a link to your vendor of choice for later ordering.

The following screen caps will walk you through and, hopefully, given you a sense of how useful and practical the app is.

As you can see, Save Benjis makes quick business of locating tons of Casio cameras. After selecting the EX-Z80 it displays where it is available and for how much. Once I decided to buy it from Circuit City the app…

jumped right to the product page so I could place an order. It also presented an option for me to email the listing to myself or someone else.

In my use of it, Save Benjis worked  incredibly well. It provided multiple purchase options, provided the lowest price that I could find through a straight web search and it made making a purchase remarkaby easy.

The only criticism I can offer is that I was not able to find all the products I wanted. For example, I have been looking for a wireless microphone to use with my voice recognition software and the Revolabs xTag USB wireless lapel microphone I wanted did not show up in the data base. (I ended up having to search for it the old fashioned way- I used Google.) For everything else it worked like a charm.

Final Statement: The only thing that would make Save Benjis even better would be if it could also do a net search for any available discounts or coupons when you search for an item. In all this is a great, powerful and easy way to shop smarter.
