Before we being, please feel free to visit our introduction to the following segments of golf application reviews that will be coming in the next few days. You can find it here. This should give you an insight on how in-depth we went to ensure we bring you the best perspective on what is best for your wallet. Hopefully, this can help you decide what is best for you and also encourage the developers to provide the best of what they do.

Look and Feel
Crisp and Clean. That is the very first impression I got when first launching the application. In a nutshell, simple layout, interface, easy to navigate and use.

I like how everything flows with this application and all in all, it’s relatively straight to the point. I would probably say that a monkey can use this application but if it’s simplicity that this application is striving at, then it gets an A+ from me.

From a design perspective, it is well thought out and cleanly done but this may make or break the application based on the user that this application is targeting, otherwise, for a more advanced golfer this is a bit too simple.

Functionalities
Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! You can learn to use this application within seconds.  It’s a range finder with very limited or simple record keeping scorecard.

As you start the application, you will be required to manually select a course that you would be playing it. You can also take advantage of your iPhone’s GPS capability and auto-locate the courses within your vicinity.  From the perspective of available courses, I didn’t have any issues finding the courses I frequent at and all in all, I can’t say that you will have the same luck I had. Although I did check for courses out of my state that I have played at, I did find a couple of them that was not on the list.

As with other golf applications, if you can’t find your course mapped, then you can always contact the developers at https://www.golfmapz.com to add them for your or you can always create them yourself through their online creation tool. Overall 5400+ courses mapped may not be as comprehensive as some of the other golf applications out there but surely enough, once you create them yourself for have requested a course to be created, you don’t have to worry about it down the road. They are relatively responsive and they do add courses on a timely basis.

Needless to say, vCaddy is one of the golf applications that have integration within their site to upload/backup your score, including analytics tracking. Pretty handy and one of the things that is ahead of itself. This functionality is one that is usually sought after.

Once you have selected a course, you will be able to add up to 4 players.  From there, once you begin your first hole, you are immediately presented with the view of the distance to the pin.  On your top right corner, you can select the “Scorecard” view which will present you with the options to add the strokes and/or putts, including whether you hit a fairway or G.I.R.  Other than that, that’s it to what it can do.

I think the neatest part with this entire scorecard section is that, in order to view the actual scorecard, you do have to turn your iPhone/iTouch to landscape view. Rotate it back to portrait mode and you can, once again, start recording the items mentioned above.

Once, again, that’s it! Not much else more you can do with this application.

Final Word
Well, here we are my overall feeling with this application. I can’t say that this is something I would highly recommend, however, if you want simplicity this may do it for you and if anything else, if all you seek is a range finder, then this definitely will provide that.  Unfortunately, it is still rough around the edges.

In my opinion, this is one application that is ahead of itself. Simplicity is nice but I expected more.  If anything the best points about this application is its look and that can really only get you so far.

Quick Take:
Value:
Low
Would I Buy Again: No
Learning Curve: Low
Who is it for: Casual Golfers
What I like: Clean look and feel.
What I Don’t: I expected a lot more out of this application. From the start, it looks like it is a more advance application but really it doesn’t do anything that differentiates itself from other golf applications.
