The options for creating and editing text on the iPhone and iPod Touch continue to grow and improve. Since July 11th many apps have added the option to create and edit text with the iPhone held in landscape. This is a significant improvement since it means a far larger keyboard. I find that I am able to type faster and with greater accuracy this way than with the iPhone held in portrait.
My favorite text editor has recently been WriteRoom. A simple (not rich-text) writing app, WriteRoom allowed for landscape typing and offered distraction-free typing on a simple screen with a black background and white text. For me, however, WriteRoom has just been surpassed by TextGuru.
Jott’s iPhone app received an update earlier today.
While the update doesn’t add any new features it does bring big performance improvements.
As you may recall Jott came out of Beta a few weeks ago. As part of that transition Jott added a number of paid account levels.
Fortunately there is still a free basic level available and it offers some excellent productivity tools. These include access to the simple, yet effective, Jott iPhone app which, after today’s update, is better than ever.
The update brings…
Last week’s poll asked how many of us would be willing to pay a small subscription fee in order to keep Pandora going. 2/3s of respondents said they would.
Now, that may not be necessary.
Earlier today my friend Wayne Schulz over at Gear Diary brought the fact that Pandora now has ads on every page to my attention.
If that means Pandora just figured out a way to stay afloat, I’m all for it!
I just hope the next step isn’t commercials between songs. If it comes to that I’m done with Pandora.
For now though, here’s hoping they found a new model that is a win-win for us all.
The Tag Show is a fun app that lets you view slide shows of public image feeds. We’ve been using it for a while and really like it.
The new update
I’ve been having lots of fun with the iPhone version of Line Rider since its release last week. I am still amazed by the ability to take something originally meant for a desktop computer and re-create the experience on the iPhone. If you haven’t tried LineRider it is well worth it.
